Qatar Says US, Iran Review Proposals to Reach Agreement
“Efforts to bridge the gap between the two sides of the crisis, the United States and Iran, are still ongoing,” Ansari said during a news briefing.
He explained that Washington and Tehran are reviewing proposals put forward as part of efforts to establish the conditions necessary for reaching an agreement.
According to the spokesman, both countries remain committed to pursuing negotiations.
Ansari added that Qatar is coordinating with regional partners and the international community to bring the crisis to an end. He also pointed to “very high-level coordination” among regional leaders seeking a settlement and working to prevent further escalation.
Doha is pursuing an agreement that would help build confidence and reinforce regional peace, he said.
Addressing maritime security, Ansari emphasized that freedom of navigation is “non-negotiable,” stressing Qatar's opposition to any threats targeting its tankers or other vessels.
In a separate remark, the spokesman dismissed allegations from Israeli parties that Qatar was seeking to influence Israel's elections, saying Doha would not accept being turned into a “scapegoat.”
