Brazilian President Calls for Immediate Action on Gaza Genocide

(MENAFN) Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva issued a powerful call for international intervention on Sunday, condemning Israel’s actions in Gaza and warning that the world cannot turn a blind eye to what he described as a genocide.

Addressing the plenary session of the BRICS summit held in Rio de Janeiro, Lula emphasized the urgent need to respond to the ongoing crisis. He stated, "We cannot remain indifferent to the genocide carried out by Israel in Gaza, the indiscriminate killing of innocent civilians and the use of hunger as a weapon of war."

This statement arrives amid renewed ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Hamas taking place in Qatar. Late Friday, Hamas announced it had delivered a “positive” reply to mediators concerning a recent ceasefire and prisoner exchange proposal aimed at halting the bloodshed in Gaza.

The timing of Lula’s remarks highlights rising global tensions and the critical need for diplomatic solutions as violence continues to devastate the region.
